Online Air Deals
Cheap Charlie · October 27, 1999

One of the most notable results of online reservations are the last-minute weekend bargains that many of the nation's airlines are promoting through e-mail lists and on their personal Web sites.

These deals are phenomenal if you happen to want to travel at the spur of the moment and happen to want to go exactly where the airlines want to send you. Some of the airlines, in no particular order, to offer these Internet bargains are Southwest, Air Canada, United Airlines, American Airlines, Northwest, US Airways and Continental.

Basically everyone is in on the Internet deals, some more than others.

Southwest offers the deals with the longest lead time (hence the most useful). They normally go weeks into the future and are normally listed between every Southwest destination and one to three other cities. To subscribe to their Southwest Airlines Click 'n Save E-mail Updates, visit http://www.southwest.com/email. To find their deals on the Internet click on http://www.southwest.com/hotfares and http://www.southwest.com/special_offers/hotfares/

The Smarter Living site does, in my opinion, one of the best jobs of consolidating bargains from all airlines into one weekly e-mail. Once you tell them your home airport or give them a list of airports that you watch for bargains, they will pump out a weekly notice of all Internet deals. To sign up for this service log onto http://www.SmarterLiving.com. To register for notifications from other major airlines with Internet bargains check these URLs.

Here are a few other e-mail deals:

> Air Canada customers who are interested in booking Websaver fares online can do so by going to the Air Canada homepage http://www.aircanada.ca and clicking on the Cyber Ticket Office & Websaver icon.

> American Airlines Visit http://www.aa.com/netsaavers click the link for "add or check" and place a check mark in the Domestic Net SAAver Fares E-mail box then click on ADD.

> Continental Airlines CO.O.L. Tickets https://www.coticket.com/coolweb/

> NWA Promotional Email Registration at http://www.nwa.com/travel/cyber/cyber_reg.html.

> United Airlines E-Fares click on http://www.ual.com/ and click on E-Fares in the Shortcuts drop down list.

> US Airways E-Savers http://www.usairways.com/travel/fares/esavers.htm.

I know that I have missed some airlines, however, I'll list them in a future column, or you can send me e-mail and ask for the right URL. This is a good place to start your bookmarking.
